Dr. Bonafina provides psychotherapy for adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, adjustment problems, grief, life transitions, and functional neurological symptoms. Her approach is active, collaborative, and culturally informed, integrating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, and mind-body perspectives.

For PNES and Functional Neurological Disorder, treatment is structured and symptom-focused, helping patients understand nervous system dysregulation, identify triggers, improve emotional regulation, and regain daily functioning.

MY APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY

UNDERSTAND.

CHALLENGE.

OVERCOME.

We repeat what we don't repair.

INTENSIVE SHORT-TERM
DYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
(ISTDP)

Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) is an active, focused form of psychotherapy that helps patients identify emotional patterns, defenses, and self-sabotaging behaviors that interfere with healing and functioning.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
(CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, problem-focused approach that helps patients identify unhelpful patterns of thinking, emotion, and behavior and develop healthier, more adaptive ways of responding.

"Here and now, we make crucial decisions: either we reveal ourselves without respite or we succumb without resistance to those fangs that come to us in the shape of our long-time scars".
